"As of March 2020, the eruption of Covid 19 and the 1st containment caused a very rapid collapse in temporary employment. Although it grew +2.4% in Q2 2021, it remains below its pre-crisis level."

2020, unprecedented decline in temporary work
In September 2021, the temporary employment sector includes 16,900 companies managing nearly 28,700 establishments. This sector, concentrated around major players such as ADECCO, MANPOWER and RANDSTAD, remains branch-based, with many agencies located as close as possible to economic areas with high labor demand, such as industry, agri-food and business services.
Four regions (Ile-de-France, New Aquitaine, Occitania and PACA) account for 50.7% of companies; the cities of Paris, Lyon, Toulouse and Marseille have the densest networks.
A contrasted rebound in 2021
Over the current year, the French economy is back on track with, according to the Banque de France, a 6.3% full-year growth of the GDP in France.
This momentum is reflected in temporary employment, where 150,000 full-time positions have been created since the beginning of the year. This indicator anticipates the evolution of the labor market in the coming months and benefits in particular logistics and e-commerce, sectors that had already suffered the least in 2020.
