Every year in France, an average of 2,500 members of one of the 200 Cigales clubs save €600,000. This sum is invested in 150 local business projects, helping to create or consolidate over 300 jobs in all regions.

What is the CIGALES Club?

The CIGALES club is made up of between 5 and 20 people who come together for a renewable five-year term. It operates on the basis of undivided ownership, enabling members, known as cigaliers, to save regularly in order to invest collectively and in solidarity in projects that have a positive impact on their territory. By adhering to the CIGALES national charter, each club undertakes to respect common values and principles, and is accredited by the Federation, guaranteeing the credibility and transparency of its actions.

Who can benefit?

Any type of business can benefit from this scheme, with a strong focus on companies that put people and their environment at the heart of their business:

  • social utility companies,
  • companies in the environmental sector,
  • cultural companies,
  • fair trade companies.

For which project?

There are several aspects to their work:

  • a financial contribution: participation in the capital of companies,
  • support for business creators: help with project design, drafting articles of association, preparing financial forecasts and, depending on the case, technical assistance,
  • a network of contacts and partnerships with local business start-up organizations.

Amount of assistance

CIGALES contributions vary according to the project: from €1,000 to €10,000 per club, and several CIGALES can invest in the same project.

CIGALES acquire a blocking minority interest in the share capital of start-up companies.

In addition to these equity investments, CIGALES can make contributions in the form of partners' current accounts (provided they own at least 5% of the capital).

CIGALES can also make take-back contributions to associations.

Cigaliers provide entrepreneurs with advice and support, according to their skills.
