Entrepreneurial dynamism that has slowed down significantly
In 2022, the metropolitan business population will remain dynamic but will nevertheless be marking time. Indeed, the dynamic is taking place in a less favorable context of high inflation, the energy crisis and a tightening of consumer purchasing power, which are slowing down the arrival of new entrepreneurs and reducing the sustainability of those already in place. During the year, 1.5 entities were created for every one that disappeared. In 2021, the entrepreneurial dynamism index (IDE) was 1.7 creations and in 2020, 2 business creations for 1 disappearance! A significant drop in dynamism essentially due to a strong increase in the number of business terminations.

Focus on Overseas Departments and Regions
The Overseas Departments and Regions (DROM) remain dynamic in 2022. In all of these territories, 1.6 companies are created for every 1 person who disappears. Unlike in mainland France, the number of business start-ups continues to rise significantly, up 3.6%, while at the same time the number of businesses disappearing is down 4.5%.
Reunion is the most active territory with one third of the business creations and 43% of the business disappearances of all the DROMs. However, the strong increase in the number of disappearances has a negative impact on its entrepreneurial dynamism index, which is the worst of the five territories studied, with 1.3 new businesses for every one that disappears.
Four sectors dominate activity in the DROMs and ensure the bulk of their dynamism. First and foremost, construction and public works, which accounts for 18.6% of business start-ups and 20.8% of business closures, followed by industrial equipment (14.6% and 13.1%). For this last sector of activity, it is the Guiana space pole which explains this weight in the economy of the DROM. Finally, the services to individuals and to companies represent each one nearly 10% of the creations and disappearances of company in the DROM.
